The terrible mistakes of invading and occupying Iraq have cost Americans billions of dollars and, even more importantly, thousands of lives. With every day more American blood is spilled and $400 million a day is wasted.

We have Republicans who are demanding permanent bases in Iraq and, on the other hand, Democrats who are doing basically nothing to oppose Republicans’ calls for an indefinite occupation. As President, Bob Barr would put withdrawal plans into action without any further delay. However, as much as he supports an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, he wouldn’t publicize a scheduled exit time to America’s adversaries.

The Iraqi government relies heavily on American military forces to keep control of its country. Furthermore, its economy is artificially supported by our US taxpayer dollars. US presence in Iraq encourages terrorists and insurgents and, at the same time, prevents the Iraqi government from promoting true prosperity and peace in Iraq.
